OUR SCHOOL

Reagan Memorial Baptist Girls’ Secondary School (RMBGSS) was founded in 1941 by the Southern Baptist Missionary Board, USA. Located on Commercial Avenue Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria.

Our School motto “Love One Another” is the foundation of its core Christian beliefs.

Lucille Reagan, an American missionary, came to Nigeria in 1921. She worked as Vice Principal and later Principal of Baptist Academy from 1924 - 1928. She had a dream to set up a school for training girls but unfortunately died, during the yellow fever epidemic of 1937.

Reagan School was founded in 1941 in her memory. It was initially a co-educational primary school until 1949 when a secondary modern school was started and the girls were transferred to the site.

Reagan Memorial Baptist Secondary School was established in 1952 and remains a ‘girls only’ school to date in fulfilment of Lucille Reagan’s dream.

Ms Cora Ney Hardy was the first Principal and the first African Principal was Mrs Adeola Adegbite.  As a Christian institution, the focus is to develop highly intellectual; good spirited; morally sound; and highly cultured women in the society.
